Work on the Pandharpur Corridor will proceed by taking farmers into confidence: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde
Pandharpur (Correspondent): On the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde articulated his stance on balancing development projects with the sentiments of the Warkaris in Pandharpur. Addressing concerns raised by farmers regarding the Pandharpur Corridor project, Shinde stated, "This project will be implemented only after taking the farmers fully into confidence. No coercion of any kind will be used."
Shinde clarified that the Mahayuti government is a government of the common people. He assured that the government would take utmost care to ensure no injustice befalls the farmers, citizens, and business owners who have lived here for generations while development projects are being implemented. He also mentioned that since farmers have requested a meeting, discussions with them would be held soon.
Noting that the number of Warkaris participating in the Ashadhi Wari is increasing, Shinde observed that existing roads and spaces are becoming inadequate. Emphasizing the need for planning based on future requirements, he stated that health camps, water management systems, and all other necessary facilities would be provided for the Warkaris. Appropriate measures are also being taken regarding water availability in the Chandrabhaga River.
Speaking about the Shaktipeeth Highway, Shinde cited the example of the Samruddhi Mahamarg; although there was initial opposition, it subsided once the benefits became apparent. He assured that the highway's alignment would be altered wherever it caused difficulties for locals.
Furthermore, criticizing the 'Ramraksha' agitation led by the Uddhav Thackeray faction, Shinde termed it a mere gimmick. Asserting that the Shiv Sena is the largest party in Maharashtra, he mentioned that he had prayed at the feet of Lord Vitthal for the well-being of the farming community.
Meanwhile, regarding the assault on Corporator Ramesh Mhatre, Shinde stated that the government does not condone such incidents and emphasized that the judicial process must be respected.
