Relief for Hotel and Restaurant Operators in Maharashtra! Approval Granted for 20% Additional Commercial Gas Supply Amidst War Crisis.

Delhi: As per the instructions of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas dated March 21, 2026, the Maharashtra Government has approved 20 percent additional commercial LPG gas supply for hotels, restaurant, dhabas, industrial canteens, food processing units, dairy and other related areas in the state. Due to this, the total gas distribution has reached 50 percent of the pre-crisis level.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Chhagan Bhujbal made the announcement. Te said, “The decision will provide a big relief to hotel and restaurant businessmen. The gas supply chain will become more smooth.”
Yes, additional 20 percent supply will be applicable from March 23, 2026, the next order will remain in force till then. Hotels, restaurants, dhabas, industrial canteens, subsidized kitchens, canteens run under schemes for migrant workers and other related areas in the state will benefit from this.
Due to the war, there would have been shortage of commercial gas cylinders in India due to lack of supply of LPG globally. In cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore etc., up to 20 per cent of the establishments in some places were temporarily closed due to lack of supply of hotels and restaurants. In such a situation, this decision has become important for the industry.
It is necessary to register with Commercial Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and apply for PNG. Also, relaxation has been given in the kerosene distribution rules only, the pending permits will be valid without renewal. District Magistrates have been informed about this on 20th March.
This decision will provide stability to the hotel industry and will help the customers in getting smooth service.
