‘Fake Guru’ Kharat’s Australia Plan Foiled!

‘Fake Guru’ Kharat’s Australia Plan Foiled! Covert Operation by Ahilyanagar Police Leads to Arrest of Fraudulent Guru; Shocking Details of Sexual Exploitation of Women Revealed
Ahilyanagar (Nagar): Ashok Kharat—a self-proclaimed astrologer from Nashik, popularly known as ‘Captain’—was a fraudulent spiritual guru who was sexually exploiting women. A shocking revelation has emerged indicating that he used victimized women to engage in illicit relationships with wealthy men, subsequently blackmailing some of them.
Ashok Kharat was making preparations to flee to Australia; however, due to the vigilance of the Ahilyanagar police, a lookout notice was issued against him on March 10. Consequently, he was prevented from boarding his flight. The police had also maintained constant surveillance outside his residence.
Most importantly, the entire investigation was kept completely confidential for a full month. The rationale behind this was to ensure that Kharat received absolutely no inkling of the ongoing probe; thus, the police executed their operations with extreme caution. Even Rupali Chakankar, the Vice-Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, received no information regarding the case when she contacted the police.
How Was Kharat’s True Face Exposed?
The entire saga began on February 18, 2026, when a young woman filed a complaint at the Shirdi Police Station against Neeraj Jadhav. Neeraj was an associate of Kharat and was using obscene photographs to blackmail individuals. The Ahilyanagar police launched a search for Neeraj, only to discover that he had gone missing. Subsequently, his mother and two friends approached the police and stated, "Neeraj possesses crucial evidence against ‘Captain’ Kharat. He will survive only if he is provided with police protection." The police proceeded to grant protection to Neeraj.
On March 7, Neeraj handed over shocking video evidence against Kharat to the police. Following this, on March 9, Kharat was formally named as an accused in the Shirdi case, and on March 10, the lookout notice was issued. Finally, on March 17, the Nashik police arrested him. Kharat's Heinous Acts
According to police sources, Kharat himself was sexually exploiting women. Subsequently, he used the victims—along with other women—to establish sexual relationships with wealthy men. Photographs and videos were utilized to blackmail certain individuals. Kharat owns properties in Nashik and Ahilyanagar, as well as abroad. To date, he has undertaken more than 150 international trips. Photographs of him with his family in South Korea had gone viral on social media.
Currently, three additional cases have been registered in connection with this matter, bringing the total number of cases under investigation to six. The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of Ahilyanagar Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge and Additional Superintendent Somnath Waghchaure. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been apprised of the case and has issued orders for a thorough investigation.
Social activist Anjali Damania has alleged that, following his arrest, a Mumbai-based official holding the rank of Deputy Collector is providing Kharat with financial assistance, legal counsel, and other forms of aid.
Thanks to the discreet yet effective action taken by the Ahilyanagar police, the true face of the charlatan Kharat has been exposed to the world. The investigation remains ongoing, and it is likely that more victims will come forward.
