Delhi has become the 'Rape Capital'; Abhishek Banerjee launches scathing attack on Modi-Shah

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has launched a strong attack on the central government over a shocking rape case in Delhi. He said that Delhi is becoming India's 'rape capital', and this incident is a tragic repetition of the Nirbhaya case. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, he questioned their ability to govern Delhi while talking about bringing change in Bengal, raising doubts about the central government's security arrangements.
In this incident that took place in Delhi on January 10, a 10-year-old girl was abducted by an e-rickshaw driver, taken to a forest, and sexually assaulted. The victim girl was earning her livelihood by selling roses at a traffic signal. The accused lured her to a forest in the Bilkaspur area on the pretext of giving her tea and raped her in a room. The accused fled, leaving the victim unconscious in a pool of blood. After regaining consciousness, the girl somehow reached home, and her family filed a police complaint.
Abhishek Banerjee also reacted to the incident on social media. He wrote, "Delhi continues to bear the unfortunate tag of 'Rape Capital'. This is a tragic repetition of the Nirbhaya case. An 11-year-old innocent girl, who was earning a living by selling roses at a traffic signal, was abducted, raped, and left unconscious in a forest."
Banerjee further said, "Modi and Shah are coming to Bengal asking for votes, but they have failed to ensure women's safety, clean air and water, and prevent explosions in BJP-ruled states. They cannot manage Delhi, yet they have no moral right to talk about bringing change in Bengal." This criticism has heated up the political atmosphere, and there is also a wave of anger among the public.
