Fire breaks out in Pune's Yerwada due to cigarette butt: More than 50 vehicles gutted in Land Records Office area

Lohgaon, Pune: A sudden fire broke out in the open ground of the Land Records Office in Yerwada yesterday afternoon, causing major damage. In this accident, about 15 to 20 four-wheelers and 40 to 50 two-wheelers parked in the parking lot were completely burnt down. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
According to the information received, the incident took place around 12:30 pm on Monday. The fire spread quickly due to the dry grass and garbage piles in the ground and took on a fierce form. A large cloud of smoke spread in the area, creating panic among the local residents. The ownership of the burnt vehicles is not yet clear, and the local traffic police have said that these vehicles do not belong to them. No private person or company has yet claimed these vehicles.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but fire officials have initially suspected that it was started by a discarded cigarette butt. A pile of garbage was found at the scene, which may have helped ignite the fire.
The incident has raised questions about safety and waste management issues in the area. Further investigations are underway.
