TET Paper Leak: Opposition Demands CBI Probe; Calls for Dada Bhuse's Resignation!
Mumbai: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case sparked a massive uproar in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Monday (June 29). The opposition demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter and the resignation of Education Minister Dada Bhuse. Following the rejection of their demand for a discussion, the opposition raised loud slogans, leading to the adjournment of the House proceedings.
Members including Ambadas Danve and J.M. Abhyankar of the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction), as well as Congress's Satej Patil and Abhijit Vanjari, demanded a detailed discussion by suspending the scheduled business under Rule 289.
Citing the NEET paper leak incident, Ambadas Danve alleged that the government failed to take adequate precautions for the TET examination. He described the paper leak in Bhiwandi as a serious failure of the examination system. "TET is a crucial exam for becoming a teacher. The leaking of the question paper signifies a loss of faith in the entire education system," he stated. He demanded that the Education Minister accept moral responsibility and resign, given that the exam falls under the purview of the Education Department.
Satej Patil criticized the government, noting that while it announces plans for the development of 13 crore citizens, it is unable to properly conduct an examination for seven lakh candidates. Citing instances of paper leaks in the Pune Municipal Corporation, universities, NEET, and other exams, he sought details regarding the mastermind, the nature of the crime, and the protection afforded to the accused in the Bhiwandi case.
Abhijit Vanjari stated that the recurring paper leak incidents in the state have cast doubt on the examination system and demanded the establishment of an independent examination commission.
J.M. Abhyankar presented details of the investigation to the House. He claimed that the QR codes and passwords for the examination question papers had been sent to Bihar prior to the exam itself. The investigation into Papers 1, 2, and 3 has revealed key details, including evidence such as a cheque worth ?2.5 lakh and the involvement of suspects who had arrived from Delhi.
Response from Education Minister Dada Bhuse:
Speaking on behalf of the government, Education Minister Dada Bhuse stated that the matter came to light based on confidential information received by the police. He clarified that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the directives of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and a thorough investigation is underway following the registration of multiple cases. He assured that strict action would be taken against the guilty and that reforms would be implemented to make the examination process more transparent in the future.
However, as the opposition remained dissatisfied, an uproar ensued in the House, leading to the adjournment of proceedings. A total of 6.25 lakh candidates had appeared for this examination.
