Voters' enthusiasm in Maharashtra for local body elections
The voting process has begun for 264 municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats in Maharashtra since this morning (Tuesday). Voters are turning up at polling stations in large numbers since 7.30 am. Especially in the three Nagar Panchayat areas of Besa, Pipla (Kale) and Parseoni (Paper Nagar) in Nagpur district, unprecedented enthusiasm is being seen among voters.
Queues hundreds of meters long have formed at many polling stations. In some places, voters have to stand in queues for more than 45 minutes. As the Municipal Council-Nagar Panchayat elections are being held in this area after a long time, there is an atmosphere of immense excitement among the citizens. Women, senior citizens and young voters have reached the polling stations in large numbers in the first hour of the morning itself.
The Election Commission has provided adequate facilities at all the polling stations and police security has also been deployed. The polling process will continue till 5.30 pm and counting of votes will begin in the evening, informed the Election Officer.
This election is being seen as a crucial phase in the state's politics. Everyone's attention is on the Nikri results.
