Mumbai/Hingoli: Pradnya Rajiv Satav, wife of the late Congress leader and former MP Rajiv Satav and a Member of the Legislative Council, resigned from the Congress party and her MLC position today. ??She then joined the BJP at the party's headquarters in Mumbai. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of BJP Maharashtra State President Ravindra Chavan, former president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and other leaders.
Speaking to the media after joining the party, Pradnya Satav said that the late Rajiv Satav had dedicated his life to the development of Hingoli district. She said she has taken this decision to fulfill his dreams and to support the state's development leadership. "We also want to contribute to the development that is taking place in the state under the leadership of Devabhau (Devendra Fadnavis)," she said. She did not express any dissatisfaction with the Congress party.
After Rajiv Satav's death in 2021, the Congress party had given Pradnya Satav an opportunity to serve in the Legislative Council. She had become strong due to the support of her workers and the party's favor. However, this decision to switch parties, ahead of the 2025 local body elections, is expected to create a major stir in Hingoli politics. It is being discussed that this will benefit the BJP while being a blow to the Congress.
