Navi Mumbai International Airport Naming: Demand for D. B. Patil's name gains momentum
Name the Navi Mumbai airport after D. B. Patil; no other name will be acceptable - Harshvardhan Sapkal
Maharashtra Congress State President Harshvardhan Sapkal has strongly demanded that the Navi Mumbai International Airport be named after the late people's leader D. B. Patil. He clearly stated, "Name the Navi Mumbai airport after D. B. Patil; no other name will be acceptable."
Sapkal accused the BJP-led Mahayuti government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of deliberately delaying the decision. According to him, local farmers and sons of the soil gave their land for the airport, and D. B. Patil fought a long battle for their rights. The 12.5% ??land allocation scheme was made possible because of his agitation. He stated that if the demand is not met, they will take to the streets and launch a protest.
The airport is currently being referred to as "NM," and he expressed suspicion that "NM" might stand for "Narendra Modi Airport," citing the example of the Ahmedabad cricket stadium's naming. Congress MPs have also raised this issue in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
