Fadnavis defends Shinde; addresses opposition's allegations in Satara drugs case

Mumbai, December 19, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given a major reaction for the first time regarding the seizure of a large quantity of MD drugs in Savari village of Satara district. While praising the police action, he termed the allegations being made against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as false and reprehensible.
Fadnavis said, “I congratulate the police for raiding and seizing a large quantity of drugs in Satara. The police have exposed the illegal business that was going on. There is a deliberate attempt to politically link Eknath Shinde's name to this case. This is extremely wrong, inappropriate, and reprehensible. In the evidence that has come to light so far, the Shinde family has no connection whatsoever. We are conducting a full investigation into this matter.”
The opposition parties had made allegations mentioning the name of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's brother, Prakash Shinde. However, Prakash Shinde has rejected these allegations, stating that his name is being dragged into the matter due to political animosity.
This case has become the focal point of a political controversy, with the opposition making serious allegations against the government.
