Adani to bid for 11 new airports, announces $11 billion expansion plan!
Adani takes a 'giant leap' in the airport sector! Investment of ?92,000 crore in the next five years
Mumbai/New Delhi: Adani Airports will bid for 11 new airports under the next phase of privatization and has announced a plan to invest $11 billion (approximately ?92,000 crore) over the next five years. This includes airports like Amritsar and Varanasi.
Currently, the Adani Group operates 7 major airports in the country. This expansion will increase the number of airports operated by Adani, putting them in direct competition with rivals like GMR. Adani will play a major role in achieving the government's objective of increasing the number of airports in the country from 163 to 350-400 by 2047.
It has been clarified that the Adani Group will not be entering the airline business. The group, led by Gautam Adani, is prioritizing long-term land-based projects and is overlooking airlines due to their low-profit margins.
Regarding the IPO, there is no definite date for the Adani Airports IPO. The company has stated that the IPO will be launched only after the business becomes self-reliant and generates sufficient cash flow from its operations.
